NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Certification – Day 1

The NRA Pistol Instructor Course is a 16-hour course that teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.
Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Attendance of the “NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting, Instructor Led” course.
Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises. Contact us to schedule.
Description: Course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training (Day 1), and discipline specific instructor training (Day 2). Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination.
Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet and NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course student packet.
Required Equipment:
- Semi Auto Handgun
- Cleaning Kit
- Magazines
- Revolver (nice to have but not required)
- Electronic hearing protection
- Quality eye protection
- .22 Caliber handgun and ammunition

Dave is the lead instructor for Civilian Defense Concepts and brings over a quarter of a century of training experience to the table. He is currently an NRA Training Counselor (pistol, rifle, shotgun, home firearms safety, CCW), NRA Refuse to be a Victim instructor (crime prevention course), NRA Chief Range Safety Officer, an NRA LE Certified Instructor (pistol, patrol rifle, and shotgun), Sig Sauer Academy Certified Semi-Auto Pistol Instructor and a graduate of their Master Pistol Instructor and Pistol Mounted Red Dot Optics Instructor programs. He is also a Taser, Pepper Spray, Munio Self Defense Keychain, AVERT and ALERRT active shooter response instructor, Mental Health First Aid Provider instructor, First Aid/CPR/AED instructor, and Advanced Bleeding Control/Stop the Bleed certified instructor. He believes in a holistic approach to self defense and he will be bringing many of these programs to the club.
