SUMMARY:NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting
DESCRIPTION:The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. \nThis is a traditional\, instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. \nCourse topics include: gun safety rules\, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols\, ammunition knowledge and selection\, pistol selection and storage\, shooting fundamentals\, pistol inspection and maintenance\, marksmanship\, and shooting range safety. Additionally\, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive the NRA Guide: Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook\, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor. \nEye and Electronic ear protection (like the Howard Leight Impact Sport- see the “Equipment we Recommend Page) is highly recommended. We do have loaners if you need eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own firearm and bring it \, a cleaning kit is required. \nNO LIVE AMMO \nWe will be excusively shooting .22 caliber. SUMMARY:Defensive Pistol 102 (DP102)
DESCRIPTION:Defensive Pistol 102 builds on what you learned in DP101. \nWe will continue to review draw/holster\, defensive shooting theory and techniques and continue to work with stress inoculation drills. Because firearms are mechanical objects which can fail\, we will be working with common types of malfunctions that occur to both semi-autos and revolvers (Type1\, Type 2\, and Type 3). \nBy the end of this course\, you will be well on your way to being able to reflexively fix firearms malfunctions.  Both revolvers and semi-autos can be used in the course. There is a recommended amount of ammo needed for the course. HOWEVER\, availability and cost concerns\, bring what you can afford to shoot. The important thing is the repetitions of the motions and not making the gun go “Bang”. \nPrerequisite: Must have attended DP101 or similar course. Contact instructor if you are unsure. \nPlease bring: \n\nFunctioning\, modern\, centerfire\,  firearm\nMagazines (minimum 3)\, or if yous hoot a revolver\, a Revolver Speedloaders (revolvers- minimum 4)\nA way to carry a magazine or a revolver speedloader on your belt\n150- 200 rounds of ammo.  Bring what you can afford to shoot.  The most important thing is the training\, not the “Bang”\nHard sided holster- no trigger finger locks (Ex. He is also a Taser\, Pepper Spray\, Munio Self Defense Keychain\, AVERT and ALERRT active shooter response instructor\, Mental Health First Aid Provider instructor\, First Aid/CPR/AED instructor\, and Advanced Bleeding Control/Stop the Bleed certified instructor.  He believes in a holistic approach to self defense and he will be bringing many of these programs to the club.
