SUMMARY:Defensive Pistol 101 (DP101)
DESCRIPTION:Defensive Pistol 101 starts with a draw clinic. You will learn a proper and safe draw and holster method. You will learn defensive shooting theory and techniques and will develop your ability to operate your firearm under stress with stress inoculation drills. Please bring a cover garment as we will be working with “Concealed carry”\, as well. \nBoth revolvers and semi-autos can be used in the course. There is a recommended amount of ammo needed for the course. HOWEVER\, due to current cost and/or availability\, bring what you can afford to shoot. The important thing is the repetitions of the motions and not making the gun go “Bang”. \nPrerequisite: Must have a working knowledge of loading\, unloading\, and shooting your firearm.  This is not a class for you if you have never shot your gun or don’t know how to load\, stand\, aim\, shoot\, or unload your gun. \nPlease bring: \n\nFunctioning\, modern\, centerfire\,  firearm\nMagazines (minimum 3)\, or Speedloaders (revolvers- minimum 4)\nA way to carry a magazine or speedloader on your belt\n150- 200 rounds of ammo.  Bring what you can afford to shoot.  The most important thing is the training\, not the “Bang”\nHard sided holster- no trigger finger locks (Ex. Serpa) (Safariland OK)  This is a non-negotiable safety requirement.  If you show up with inappropriate gear\, you will be dismissed from class with NO REFUNDS.  Ask about your gear before class.\nAn appropriate “concealed carry” type belt (not a cop’s “Duty belt”).  We prefer the KORE. DESCRIPTION:This course is an introduction to handgun safety Pistol\, and basic shooting fundamentals. One on One instruction is provided to each student. You bring the ATTITUDE and the instructors will supply the knowledge and skill. The class will start promptly at 8:00 pm. Please try and arrive 15 minutes prior. The cost of the class is $100 for members $125 for non members. An invoice will be sent to you when you register for the class and payment is required at that time. DESCRIPTION:The club has partnered with Dave Chang and his company\, Civilian Defense Concepts\, LLC along with our new member Anna Cousins to provide this Gun Safety And Handling Course. \nNew to the firearms world?  Need a refresher?\nCome spend a few hours with us to learn the rules of gun safety and some fundamental firearms handling skills that will get you on the range in no time.\nWe will cover topics like: \n\nFirearms Safety\nSafe Firearm storage\nConcealed Carry Permits\nLoading magazines\nAiming\nHold and stance\nAmmunition selection\nProper trigger press\n\nAnd more!\nYou do not need to own your own firearm.\nIf you have your own firearm\, please feel free to bring it.\nNO LIVE AMMO in the classroom.  This is a non shooting course. Range time will be set up individually with participants (if needed) as a separate class. \nDave is the lead instructor for Civilian Defense Concepts and brings over a quarter of a century of training experience to the table. He is currently an NRA Training Counselor (pistol\, rifle\, shotgun\, home firearms safety\, CCW)\, NRA Refuse to be a Victim instructor (crime prevention course)\, NRA Chief Range Safety Officer\, an NRA LE Certified Instructor (pistol\, patrol rifle\, and shotgun)\, Sig Sauer Academy Certified Semi-Auto Pistol Instructor and a graduate of their Master Pistol Instructor and Pistol Mounted Red Dot Optics Instructor programs.
